7 Things to Know:

1. Why is the Refresh Project happening?
The Spring Lake District Library is 20 years old. It’s time for a renovation to better meet the
evolving needs of our community and the expanded services the library can provide.

2. Can I still check out materials during construction?
Yes. Library materials and services will continue to be available on a limited basis. Our
program room is being transformed into a mini-library with books, computers and a printer
for patron use. Patrons will not have access to the main library or meeting spaces during
construction. Holds will be available for pickup and we encourage patrons to place items on hold.

3. When will it start and how long will construction last?
Construction will begin October 2 and should take 4-5 months to complete.

4. Will Storytime and other library programs continue?
Storytime will continue, but location and times may change. Other programs may be offered as
we are able at other locations. Please check our website at sllib.org and social media for program
updates and alternate locations.

5. Will library hours remain the same?
Our intention is to maintain regular hours when construction begins, but there may be some
disruptions as a result of the construction work. Please visit our website at sllib.org and check our
social media channels for the latest updates and any changes to our operating hours/days.

6. Will the library accept book donations during construction?
No. We cannot accept material donations while under construction.

7. How is the library paying for this?
As of September 2023, we have raised about 93% of the project goal through private donations,
grants, and library savings. We continue to encourage donations, both at the library and
through the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation. To make a contribution, please visit
ghacf.org/donate and select the Spring Lake District Library Renovation Fund. There are still
opportunities for naming rights for those interested in leaving a lasting legacy.
