Want to earn your degree in Riverology? Join us on Tuesday, June 21 at 6:30pm for a visit with author Doc Fletcher. Doc will guide you on a photo-illustrated tour of the rivers flowing through or nearby Michigan colleges. He wrote about these rivers in his new book Canoeing and Kayaking College Campuses in Michigan.
The 3-part Riverology curriculum includes paddling the river, walking the nearby college campus, and the location of the best local pub. You’ll also learn the history of each river, degree of paddling difficulty, the landmarks and wildlife to see, and suggested day trips. Rivers included include the Red Cedar in East Lansing, the Huron River flowing by University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University, the Grand River which visits Grand Valley and Jackson College, and the Macatawa River that streams by Hope College.
All Riverology ‘graduates’ will be entered into a drawing to win a gift certificate good for a canoe or kayak day trip. Copies of Canoeing and Kayaking College Campuses in Michigan will be available for purchase and signing by Doc Fletcher. You’ll also be able to pick up canoe/kayak livery brochures, campground directories, or a Michigan state map.
Come to learn more about the great paddling rivers flowing through or near the colleges in the Great Lakes state, and maybe start planning a canoe or kayak trip of your own.
