The library is proud to be a co-sponsor of Bike Week, which is hosted by the Spring Lake DDA along with North Ottawa Community Health System and Mercy Health. What is Bike Week? It’s a week-long event starting August 20 and ending August 25 that will feature a variety of activities and programs that are all designed to get you out of the house! Participating businesses can be identified by a blue cone set outside their buildings. Inquire inside for more information about what specials or fun things they might have going on.

How are we celebrating Bike Week? The library is one of the locations in the Village that is contributing a bicycle to the bike raffle! We welcome anyone interested in winning a bike to submit entries into the tumbler across from the Checkout desk. You can submit entries at the other locations as well. The bikes are on display at all locations that have them and you could win 1 of 4 adult bikes, 1 youth bike, a bike trailer or an adult tricycle. The library is also the starting point for the 2 mile Family Bike Ride/Run/Walk that takes place on Tuesday, August 21 at 6:30pm. If you don’t have a bike to ride, no worries! You can still join in and walk or run along at your own pace.

Two things to keep in mind for the bike raffle: 1) only one winner per household is allowed and 2) in order to win, you must attend the Bike Week Pedal, Picnic & Play event taking place in Spring Lake’s Central Park on Saturday, August 25. The community picnic starts at noon, but the drawing for the bike winners will be happening at 2:30pm.
