Readers of all ages, get ready for Summer Reading! Starting on Monday, June 12 and continuing through August 5, kids and adults can sign up to spend the summer reading books and winning prizes.

For adults, sign up is as easy as stopping by the Check Out Desk!  Participants can earn a prize (up to 3 prizes per person) for every five books they read as well as enter the grand prize drawings for a $50 gift certificate to local businesses like Village Baker, Ace Hardware, Old Boys Brewhouse, and more.

Kids have the opportunity to sign up in the ‘Read-to-Me’ group, as an ‘Independent Reader,’ or for those entering 5th-12th grades, to participate in the Teens & Tweens (T2) group.  No matter which group they’re in, children, preschool through high school, can read or listen to books to fill their reading card.  When the card is turned in, they will get to choose a prize (one prize per week maximum) and enter the weekly drawings.

We also have fun programs and events every week for kids of all ages during Summer Reading.  From the Truck Petting Zoo to storytellers to a visit from John Ball Zoo to weekly building challenges, we’re excited to welcome kids to the library.  For a full listing of the programs, check out our calendar of events or download a summer reading brochure.

The Friends of the Spring Lake District Library sponsor Summer Reading at SLDL.  We look forward to Summer Reading throughout the long Michigan winter.  Are you ready?  Let’s build a better world!
