Do you have a great idea for a business but aren’t sure how to put it into action? Have you and a friend talked for years about starting a company and becoming your own bosses?  SCORE, a nonprofit association dedicated to helping small businesses can help you get started.  Should you start from scratch? Buy an already existing business? Purchase a franchise? What sources of capital are out there, and how do you know if you’d be a good business owner anyway?

On Wednesday, February 8 from 6-8pm, John Brocci, a local SCORE mentor will be at the library to answer these questions and more. This workshop presents the reality of owning a business and the importance of conducting a self-assessment to determine if business ownership is for you.

Topics include:

  • The owner’s role and the need for self-assessment
  • Having a business plan
  • Legal structure, insurance, regulatory issues
  • Financial analysis, planning and forecasting
  • Markets and marketing strategies to define and promote the business

Seats are limited for this program, so be sure to pre-register as soon as possible to reserve your spot.
